Wednesday Word

Thought for the Week – 21st June 2021.

“May the God of Our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of Glory, give you a spirit of wisdom and perception of what is revealed, to bring you to full knowledge of Him.” St Paul’s Letter to the Ephesians. Eph 1:17 CTS CATHOLIC BIBLE

12th Sunday in Ordinary Time – Father’s Day

This week as we are in the Year of Saint Joseph, Husband of Our Lady and Foster-Father and Guardian of Our Lord Jesus, we remember all who have the wonderful role as a father. Also, we give thanks to God for anyone in our family and home who also looks after us like a father does. We give thanks too, that God is our Father, and we are His Children whom He loves and cherishes.

Our Prayer this week:

Here is a prayer we can say every day this week in honour of Saint Joseph, and it is the official prayer of the Year of Saint Joseph. This week our prayer has been sourced from Missio.

Hail, guardian of the Redeemer, Spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary. To you, God entrusted His only Son; in you, Mary placed her trust; with you, Christ became man. Blessed Joseph, to us too, show yourself a father and guide us on the path of life. Obtain for us grace, mercy and courage and defend us from every evil. Amen.

Saint Joseph, pray for us! Amen.

Something to take away with you:

During this week and every day throughout the rest of the Year of Saint Joseph, why not say the special prayer in his honour from www.missio.org.uk?

Do something special this week for the person who looks after you like a father does.

Thought of the Week – 7th June 2021

JESUS SAID, ‘I AM THE LIVING BREAD WHICH HAS COME DOWN FROM HEAVEN. ANYONE WHO EATS THIS BREAD WILL LIVE FOR EVER; AND THE BREAD THAT I SHALL GIVE IS MY FLESH, FOR THE LIFE OF THE WORLD.’

JOHN 6:51, 52 CTS CATHOLIC BIBLE

Jesus Our Lord promises to be with us forever and He stays with us by His Holy Spirit and His Real and Living Presence in the Holy Eucharist. Jesus is truly present in His Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity. – All of Jesus lives here on earth with us in the Blessed Sacrament! He lives in the Tabernacle in every Catholic Church and Chapel all over the world. We celebrate this miracle every time we go to Mass! Also, as we are in the lovely Month of June, let us remember that it is the special Month dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, our Blessed Lord and Saviour.

Our Prayer this week:

Here is a prayer we can say every day this week: This is a special prayer we can say to remind us that Jesus is present with us in the Blessed Sacrament.

O SACRAMENT MOST HOLY, O SACRAMENT DIVINE, ALL PRAISE AND ALL THANKSGIVING BE EVERY MOMENT THINE! AMEN

Something to take away with you:

Here are some extra activities you might like to do to honour this lovely Feast of Corpus Christi.

· WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU WENT TO VISIT JESUS IN CHURCH AND SAY HELLO TO HIM? HE WAITS FOR YOU TO BLESS YOU AND HOPES THAT YOU MAY VISIT HIM AND SHARE SOME TIME WITH HIM.

· WE CAN PRAY FOR ANYONE WE KNOW WHO IS PREPARING FOR THEIR FIRST HOLY COMMUNION AND WILL BE RECEIVING JESUS FOR THE FIRST TIME?

· WE CAN READ ABOUT THIS WONDERFUL SACRAMENT IN THE SCRIPTURES, IN PARTICULAR THE ACCOUNT OF THE LAST SUPPER AND THE INSTITUTION OF THE HOLY EUCHARIST IN THE GOSPELS OF MATTHEW, MARK AND LUKE. IN JOHN’S GOSPEL, CHAPTER 6, IT TELLS US THAT JESUS CALLS HIMSELF THE BREAD OF LIFE.

Thought of the Week – 24th May 2021

Pentecost

“When Pentecost day came around, the apostles had all met in one room, when suddenly they heard what sounded like a powerful wind from heaven, the noise of which filled the entire house in which they were sitting.” Acts 2:1,2.

Jesus has now gone back into Heaven, His home, to be with God our Father.  Jesus gives us the special gift of the Holy Spirit.  The Holy Spirit is God’s energy and power who helps us tell everyone about Jesus and how to share God’s love with them. He is a very special gift given to all believers.

Here is a prayer we can say every day this week:

Come, Holy Spirit! Come and fill our hearts and make your home in us.  Amen

Something to take away with you:

There are 7 gifts and 9/12 fruits of the Holy Spirit.  Do you know what they are? This week, perhaps find out more about them and ask God to help you receive more of them in your life.
