Yoga Sessions Online

This can be a very worrying and stressful time for children, with lots of change happening all the time. It is extremely important that we nurture and care for the children’s mental health and well-being. Yoga has been proven to decrease stress levels, reduce anxiety and help with relaxation. Here are some website links to online Yoga sessions that your child could do at home. They are aimed at primary school children, and there are different lessons to choose from. We have used them in school before so your child may be familiar with them.

11:00 – 12:00 Maths:  For Maths today, I would like you to show me different ways of making 7.

1:00 – 2:00 RE:  In today’s RE session, we are going to be focusing on Jesus as the Light of the World and our understanding of what the Baptismal Candle means.

We are going to play a game of blindman’s bluff. Have you played it before? If not, don’t worry. You need a scarf or a piece of material to cover your eyes.  Think about the following questions:  

  1. What does it feel like to not be able to see where you are going?  
  1. How does it make you feel when there isn’t any light? 
  1. How do you feel now that you can see and there is light?  

Jesus is the light of the world. He guides us through life and in all that we do. Can you create a picture of a candle to show that Jesus is the light of the world? 

2:00 – 2:30 RSE: In our session today, we are going to be thinking about what makes our bodies healthy. I would like you to show me what makes you healthy. This could include things that you eat and drink at home and exercise that you might do. I would love to see pictures of your findings. You could even write me a list!

Wednesday 20th January 2021 

Good morning everyone. We hope you are all okay and well rested for today. Here is our plan for the day: 

9:30 – 10:30: Live phonics session with Mrs Cull. We have different things that we will be doing today:

  1. First, we are going to be consolidating our knowledge of the sounds we have learnt already; this is a great opportunity to hear and see them again.
  2. Next, we will be reading green word cards using our Fred Talking and blending skills.
  3. After that, we will be listening to and joining in with a modelled read. Here is a picture of the Ditty that we will be reading.

In doing all of this, we will be applying our phonics skills and really practising them. After the session, see if you can read the Ditty above. Once you have read it, cover it up. Can you write any words from it?

11:00 – 12:00 Maths:  Today, we are going to be representing 7. You will need 7 objects to count with and a tens frame. Draw one out on a piece of paper like this:

Can you show me different ways of representing 7 on our tens frame?

Even though they are in different arrangements, how many buttons have I still got? Can you find 7 objects and show me different arrangements on your tens frame?

1:00 – 1:45 PE:  For PE today, we are going to be continuing with our dance sequencing from last week. Can you remember the movement you created for sieving the flour? This week, we are going to adding the next part; the cracking of the egg and mixing it altogether. Can you create a movement?  

Now add it to the movement you created last week. Try it with the music. Remember, you can move your body in time to the music to really create a dance.

11:00 – 12:00 Maths: For Maths today, we are going to be looking more closely at 6 whilst learning new concepts and vocabulary. Look at the picture below. If you can print it out, great. If not, can you make your own cupcake cards?

  1. If you have printed it out, can you cut it up and put them in order? Which number comes first? Which number comes last?
  2. Count how many candles are on each cake. Which cake has the most? Which cake has the fewest?
  3. What is one more than 5? What is one less than 6?

After that, read the “Red Words”. 

Finally, read the Ditty using your sounding out and blending skills.

11:00 – 12:00 Maths For Maths today, we are going to be exploring the number 6.  First, can you show me everything you know about number 6? This is so I know how I can help you learn more this week. You can represent it using objects, you can write the number and you could even show me different ways of making 6.
