Admissions
Children are admitted into Reception Class at the start of the academic year in which they will become 5 years of age.
Our full admission arrangements are shown below and can also be found in the “Our School/Policies” section of the website. The Admissions Policies for Worcestershire Schools can be found at www.worcestershire.gov.uk/cms/school-information/school-admissions/policies-and-appeals.aspx
St Thomas More Catholic First School is part of Our Lady of the Magnificat Multi Academy Company (MAC). The admissions authority for the school is the Board of Directors of Our Lady of the Magnificat MAC who has responsibility for admissions to this school. The Board of Directors has delegated responsibility for the administration of the admissions process to the Admissions Committee of St Thomas More Catholic First School.
Admission into Reception for September 2023 is for children who were born between 1st September 2018 and 31st August 2019.
If you live in Worcestershire, you will need to apply on-line at www.worcestershire.gov.uk/schooladmissions. You will receive an acknowledgement by e-mail of your submitted application. If you do not have access to the internet, visit your local library and gain free access to the internet.
If your child has been baptised in a Catholic Church, you will need to supply a copy of their Baptismal Certificate and complete a Supplementary Information Form (SIF) – see our admission arrangements in the “Policies” section or below.
The closing date for receipt of applications is 15th January 2023.
Worcestershire Children First will advise parents of the outcome of their application on 17th April 2023 (National Offer Day).
In-Year Admissions (Transfers)
An application can be made for a place for a child at any time outside the admission round and the child will be admitted where there are available places. An application should be made via the local authority by completing the in-year admissions application form which is available from Apply for a school place | Worcestershire County Council.
As a Catholic School, parents will also need to complete a Supplementary Information Form in addition to the standard application form that is submitted to the local authority. Supplementary Information Forms can be obtained from the school’s office manager office@stm.magnificat.org.uk or a hard copy can be provided on request by contacting the school office on 01527 525821. Supplementary Information Forms must be returned directly to the school at office@stm.magnificat.org.uk and marked FAO Ann Eaton, Office Manger. If a Supplementary Information Form is not submitted directly to the school this may affect the priority given to the application and could affect the likelihood of your child being offered a place.
The local authority will forward your application to the school for consideration by the governors.
Where there are places available but more applications than places, the published oversubscription criteria, as set out in the admission arrangements for 2022/2023, will be applied. The full admission arrangements can be accessed from2022-2023-Admission-Arrangements-revised-from-01.09.2021.pdf or by contacting the school office to request a hard copy. Parents are advised to read the admission arrangements carefully before making their application.
If there are no places available, the local authority will notify you of this decision on behalf of the governors and the child will be added to the waiting list. Please see the admission arrangements for more details regarding waiting lists.
You will be advised of the outcome of your application in writing as soon as possible. Applicants must be informed of the outcome of their application within 15 school days of its receipt, but the aim is to notify applicants of the outcome of their application within 10 school days of its receipt.
You have the right to appeal to an independent appeal panel if your application is unsuccessful.
If you have any questions in relation to in-year admissions please contact Ann Eaton, Office Manager office@stm.magnificat.org.uk. You may also wish to discuss in-year applications with the local authority, Worcestershire County Council.
Parents should not apply directly to schools. Please see the link below for an in-year application:
