St Faustina Class wk beginning 8.11.21

In English the children have been continuing to write based on the book ‘Lost and Found’. They have sequenced the story, created ‘Found’ posters for the penguin, written sentences based on specific parts of the book and they have also looked at how using the ‘ed’ suffix turns a verb into a past tense verb. Next week they will be using the story map to imitate a character description.

In Maths the children have been busy creating addition fact families by recognising the parts of number bonds within 10 eg. that the number 7 can be made up of 7 and 0, 6 and 1, 5 and 2, and 3 and 4. They have learnt that addition is commutative…3 +4 is the same as 4+3.

In Science they have continued to record daily weather patterns and they have also focussed on the changes that can be seen as Autumn changes to Winter. They were able to discuss the differences in temperature, the number of daylight hours and how the trees have changed.

Please remember that books are changed on a Friday so book bags must be in school for this. We also encourage the children to choose a school library book on a Thursday but will only do so if they return the one they have previously borrowed. It is best if they bring their book bags every day.

Congratulations to our star pupils Dakota and Penny. Keep up the fantastic work!

Also a big well done to all of our other certificate winners this week. They are…

Star of the week: Lydia

Spelling of the week: Maya

Handwriting of the week: Emilia

Virtues and Values: Leon and Nia
