St Bernadette Week 1 Autumn 2

Published by cchurchill on

The children had a very busy first week back. We started our week with a lovely mass led by year 2 St Thomas class.

On Tuesday the children came back from assembly to find footprints all over the year 2 classrooms, whoever were they from? The mystery visitor also left the children a letter apologising for leaving all of the mess but he explained that he just wanted to see what they were learning about. We can’t wait to find out who the special visitor was.

In English, the children completed a cold write on a setting description of their choice. They also learned their new setting description based on the book ‘Winter’s Child’ by Angela McAllister. They practised rehearsing the story map and they learned about verbs and adverbs.

In maths, we have begun our unit of work on addition and subtraction. The children have counted backwards in tens, forwards and backwards in steps of 3, recalled number bonds to 10 and 20 and thought about what other bonds they know if they know bonds to 10 and 20 and they recalled addition facts within 20.

In RE, the children described the thoughts and feelings of Mary as she stood at the foot of the cross.

Congratulations to all of our recent award winners.
