St Bernadette Week 7

Published by cchurchill on

A huge well done to all of the children for a fantastic first half term in year 2. This week in English, they have planned and written their invented character description. This final piece of writing is referred to as their ‘hot write’ and is an independent piece of writing used for assessment purposes. It has been wonderful to compare their hot writes to the first piece of writing that they did in year 2 just 7 weeks ago. I am very proud of their progress so far. In maths, the children counted forwards and backwards in 10’s and completed end of unit assessments for place value. After half term we will begin our unit of work on addition and subtraction.

At school, the children really like the games on TopMarks. We play the maths games a lot and this website is free. Hit the button is a particularly popular game and is great for children’s mental maths skills. You may want to have a look at it if you want your child to practise over the holidays. But please remember to have a good rest too!

The moon buggies are still drying so we couldn’t send them home today but they will be sent home on the first day back after half term.

Have a lovely half term break and we look forward to seeing the children on 1st November.
