Welcome to St Martin de Porres

Welcome to the Year 3 St Martin de Porres Class Page.

In St Martin de Porres, Mrs Jones is the class teacher and Mrs Rollins and Miss Thaker are the teaching assistants.

PE is on a Tuesday and a Friday, so please send your children in their kits on those days.

It has been a really busy but exciting first two weeks of the term. It has been so lovely getting to know everybody and the children have settled into Year 3 really well.

This half term in English the children will be learning how to write a character description based on the story The Egyptian Cinderella.

We are using this story because our topic is Ancient Egypt and in history the children will be learning about who the Egyptians were, where and how they lived, why the Pyramids and Mummies were important and who Tutankhamun was.

In maths, the children are learning about place value using numbers up to 1000.

In Science, the children are learning about Light, which includes light sources, learning about sun safety and investigating which materials are the most reflective.

In RE, the children are thinking about Belonging and the groups they belong too and how we all belong to God’s family.

WE have already given out some awards. The two virtues and Values awards have gone to Stephanie and Zuzanna for being eloquent and truthful.

Maryam received the Speller of the week award and Lena received the handwriter of the week award.

Well done everyone.

Pease see below for some photographs of the author Dan Worsley, who came to visit it us last week.

If you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to come and see me.

I will write again next week.
