A busy few weeks in St Martin de Porres

Published by NJones on

Hi Everyone,

It has been busy few weeks in St Martin de Porres. I will give you some brief details of what we have been up to and then include some photographs for you to enjoy looking at. I hope you all have a lovely half term and I will see you back at school on Monday 7th June 2021 for our final half term in Year 3.

On 11th May, we had a visitor come to school to share lots of artefacts and facts about World War 2. The children role played an air raid where they practised using bandages and stretchers and had to decide which casualities to help first. They used a stirrup pump to put out fake fires and ended up getting very wet themselves. There were lots of artefacts for the children to explore . It was a fantastic experience for the children.

On 28th May, we held our Environment Day, where we thought how we could look after the environment even better. The children planted 5 hawthorn trees, made bug hotels, made eyes using natural objects and designed posters to encourage people to be more eco friendly.

In other lessons, we have written a diary entry in English, been learning about fractions in maths, planted lots of different things in science and learnt about Pentecost in RE.

The children have really enjoyed doing lots of practical activities.
