Week 3 in St Thomas Class

Published by KPinchbeck on

Another great week for the children in St Thomas Class, who have been working as hard as ever.

In English they have been busy innovating the story of ‘After the Fall’ whereby they have been changing certain aspects of the story to put a fresh spin on it and make it their own. There have been some very creative ideas and the children are now in the process of writing the innovated story for themselves. We have been doing it in sections so we can fully focus on the sentence structure and punctuation as well including all the changes.

In Maths the children have been learning to add and subtract multiples of 10 to 2-digit numbers. They have been doing this by thinking about what they already know eg. 2+3=5 therefore 20+30=50. They have then progressed to calculations such as 10+ 23 and 76-20.

In Science the children have been continuing to learn about living things and their habitats. The particular focus for this week was on ‘microhabitats’ where the children learnt that large habitats can contain a number of smaller habitats… a leaf, under a stone and inside rotting wood etc. They were very good at identifying some of the creautures that may be found in these places.

St Thomas Class have also continued to enjoy their PE lessons and practise their art skills in our ‘Design a Stamp’ competition.

Congratulations to Oliver who has received a certificate for being compassionate and loving. It is a joy to see how kind he is to other people. Well done Oliver…

Wishing all of you a lovely and relaxing weekend. See you next week.
