St Bernadette Week 1 Summer 1

Published by cchurchill on

Welcome back to a new term, I hope you all had a lovely Easter.

The children have got straight back into work this week and have enjoyed our new T4W unit in English based on our new text ‘After the fall’ by Dan Santat. The children’s inference skills have amazed me and they have already begun to learn the story by following a story map and creating their own actions. They boxed up the story into its 5 parts and created a toolkit of all the things they will be learning about during this unit of work.

In maths, we have begun our unit of work on multiplication. The children have recognised, made and added equal groups. In RE, the children have been thinking about the events of Easter. They wrote in role as Mary Magdalene and explained what happened when they went to the tomb.

In computing, the children have learned how to log on using their school username and password and explored the layout of a keyboard. In PE this half term, the focus is on athletics and how to run, jump and throw correctly.

A quick reminder, please ensure book bags are in school each day. Most children are now in guided reading groups and the day of the week they read can change depending on what is being taught in the guided reading sessions. It is important that school books and library books are returned before new ones can be issued. Please also encourage your child to read their school book a few times a week to ensure fluency and understanding. They also have access to Bug Club books and e-books on Oxford Owl. They are also able to take a library book home from the class library if they would like to.
