St Bernadette week 3

Published by cchurchill on

Another busy week in year 2. Thank you to those parents who managed to log on for the phonics meeting last night. Please do not worry if you missed it, the powerpoint will be uploaded so you can read through it. Please then feel free to ask any questions if you have any worries or concerns.

In RWI English this week, the children have as always been fantastic at practising their phonic sounds, reading their focus book and writing about the story that they have heard.

In maths, the children have been estimating where numbers go on a number line using their place value knowledge, using their place value knowledge to solve problems and recognising the place value of each digit in a 1 and 2 digit number. They have continued to practise their times tables by chanting at the start of lessons and they have started rapid recall again which they really enjoy.

In RE, the children heard the story of Jesus calling his first disciples. They wrote a letter home, pretending to be a disciple, explaining why they chose to follow Jesus and carry out his special mission.

In history, the children continued to learn about Guy Fawkes and they thought about what items would have been around during his time and compared them to what we use today, such as a lantern and a torch, a quill and ink and a pen.
