Week 2 in St Martin de Porres

Published by NJones on

Another week has flown by in St Martin de Porres.

Firstly, I would like to thank all the parents who I saw on Parents’ Evening. It was lovely to see you are and have a conversation without face coverings! If you didn’t make an appointment, catch me on the door and we can make an appointment to speak over teams on another day.

The week started with the Remembrance Mass from Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, led by Father Tony.

On Wednesday, we watched a Remembrance service that was led by children from all the Our Lady of Lourdes Academy schools. It was really thought provoking.

Class assembly this week was led by Hugh and Julia and last week it was led by Gosia and Anika. We learnt about the lives of St Teresa and St Bernadette.

In English, we are continuing to learn how to write non-chronological reports.

In maths, we are continuing to add and subtract 2 and 3 digit numbers. We are also trying to think of mental maths strategies to work out things quickly in our head, such as 225+90 is 225+100 then take away 10.

I art the children experimented with plasticine to make their amphoras which they will begin to make in clay in the next few weeks. Here are some examples.

On Friday in our virtues and values assembly, Jakub received a certificate for being intentional for helping to keep our classroom tidy and looking after things. Kacper received an award for being prophetic as he always sets a good example to the rest of the class. Well done both.

Have a good week and I will write again next week.
