Happy Half time St Martin de Porres

Published by NJones on

We’ve had another busy week in St Martin de Porres, even though it was a 4 day week.

We started with our awards assembly, where Livia and Ksavery received awards. Livia’s award was for her beautiful handwriting and Ksavery’s award was for always being enthusiastic in all lessons.

Some children also received Bug Club reading awards for finishing the white reading level. They were Jakub, Gosia, Harry, Harvey and Nitin.

Well done everyone!

In English this week the children did amazingly well writing the character description of the character that they had created. Their writing has really improved over the half term.

In maths, we were using number lines to add and subtract a one digit number to or from a two or three digit number. They worked really hard with this especially as some of them found it a bit challenging to start with.

In RE , we started a new unit- We listen to God’s Word at Mass. They heard the story of the call of Samuel and they thought about people’s jobs and why it is important for them to listen.

In Science, we finished our unit about the digestive system by creating food chains. We learnt about producer, primary consumers and secondary consumers.

Our class assembly on Thursday was led by Harvey and Gabriel, where we watched the story of Mary visiting Jesus’ tomb to discover that He has risen.

We have had a lovely half term in St Martin de Porres and I hope that you all have a restful half term and come back refreshed and ready to learn again. If you do want to do some work this week, keep practising times tables rockstars to get your time down and have a look at Bug Club on Active Learn Primary to practise your reading.

Have a great week off.
