A busy week in St Martin de Porres

Published by NJones on

Our week started by celebrating Harvest Mass in the hall with Father Tony. It was really good to be in the hall again to celebrate Mass and the children did really well remembering the responses.

In English, the children wrote a description of their favourite character before inventing a character to write about next week during out lesson on Friday.

In maths, we are still focusing on simple addition using a number line and we practised number bonds of single digit numbers to help us when we are adding and subtracting. We got our fastest time in our times table chanting this week. We managed to say all the tables in 1 minute 43 seconds. Can we be even faster next week?

In Science, we thought about didn’t types of animals such as herbivores, carnivores and omnivores and then sorted them into groups. We also began to think about simple food chains such as grass, cow, human.

Assembly on Thursday was led by Livia and Callan where we thought about Jesus being lost at the Temple and how he was listening to the words of his Father.

In our virtues and values assembly on Friday, we heard the story of Zacchaeus and how he was curious to hear what Jesus had to say and the he acted on it by saying he was sorry and changing the way he lived his life. Two children received virtues and values certificates. they were Livia for being kind in the classroom and Harvey for helping another child to tidy up their things. Well done.

Thank you again for the sponser money you have sent in. So far in school we have raised nearly £740 so please send in any remaining money by 21st October.

Please remember that the children are only at school until Thursday next week as it is the last week before half term.

Have a good week.
