This week in St Martin de Porres

Published by NJones on

We’ve had another good week in St Martin de Porres. The week started off with our awards assembly, where Riley and Malika received a certificate. Riley’s was for being enthusiastic in all lessons and Malika’s was for knowing most of her 11 times table. Well done!

We continued with character descriptions in English and the children have chosen their favourite character and they will write about them next week.

In maths, we are learning how to add and subtract a one digit number to or from a three digit number using their knowledge of place value. The children have done well with the tricky concept of exchanging 10 ones for one ten in the tens column.

In RE, the children discussed the 7 Sacraments and made a story board using pictures and words to represent the Sacraments.

On Tuesday, during our PE lesson, the child completed their sponsored walk for CAFOD. The children did really well walking around the field. Please send in the sponsor money as soon as you can.

In science, we continued to learn about the digestive system and the children labelled the parts of the digestive system.

Our assembly on Thursday was led by William and Filip and they shared the story of Mary giving birth to Jesus in the stable. We thought about how Mary would have been feeling at different parts of the story and recognised that God is always with us just as He was with Mary.

During our Virtues and values assembly on Friday, Jakub and Julia recieved a certificate for being curious and active. Jakub has been extremely kind to other children this week and Julia always tries her hardest in everything with do.

In computing, the children were practising their typing skills on a program on the internet called Brown Bear Typing under phonics games for Key Stage 1 and 2. Have a go at home too!

Thank you for sending in the books bags this week. Please can you send them back in on Monday and the children will receive new books on Tuesday.

Have a good week

Mrs Jones
