A lovely week

Published by NJones on

Our week started with our awards assembly which is always lovely to take part in. All the children have worked hard so it’s really hard to choose who top give the certificates to.

In English, we have been looking at editing and revising the character descriptions we have written about Veruca Salt from Charlie and the chocolate factory. We have also been learning how to use prepositional phrases so that we can make our writing even better. So instead of the girl wore a hat, we have practised writing – the girl wore a hat on her head.

In maths, we have continued to learn about place value and think of different ways of partitioning number. For example 400+40+6 could become 300 + 140 +6. The children really enjoyed working through this and we came up with lots of different answers.

In RE, we learnt about how we can belong to God’s family by being baptised and we ordered pictures to show the way a baptism was done in the church.

The children loved finding out what had happened to the eggs in the science investigation. We discovered that the egg that had been in the coke for 1 week was more stained than the ones that had been in tea and coffee.

We are still practising logging on to the computers using our new usernames and passwords and the children are getting much faster.

We also use the computers to do Times Table Rockstars. Please keep practising this at home. Everyone should now have a username and password. If you’re not sure what it is please come to see me. Here is the link for the website.

I have also allocated all the children some books on bug club. They may have read them before, but this won’t be a problem as they are consolidating what they have learnt to become more fluent readers. Again if you are not sure of the username and password please come to see me. Here is the link to get onto the webpage https://www.activelearnprimary.co.uk/login?c=0

Have a good week and I will write again next week.
