Reading

Please continue to read your books, either BUG CLUB or a home book too.

Daily RWI phonics

During RWI session the reading and writing should be independent, so let your child have a go at these activities on their own please, especially the spelling. You do not need to write it out for them to copy. This will get them ready for when they return as they will have to write independently for some lessons, in particular the RWI session.

First of all watch on the RWI youtube link the set 2 sound speed sound lesson and set 2 spelling lesson for today.

To practise sentence writing then watch today’s ‘Hold a sentence’ lesson and complete the writing.

Then you can write other sentences, but ones that are linked to the sound of the day, you can use the sentences below. Don’t forget to put the sound buttons under the words with the sound of the day.

After you have completed the ‘Hold a sentence’ lesson, then you can ask your grown up to read my sentences to you for you to write on your own.

Listen carefully to each word and independently write the sentence, ask your grown up to keep repeating the sentence to help you remember what comes next. Don’t forget the capital letter and full stop.

Parents you can use the ‘Hold a sentence’ lesson video as guidance if you want to.

Read the sentences to your child, let them write it independently as this is expected when doing writing for RWI.

Thursday 2nd July

Writing and phonics

Today is the final sound of Set 2 sounds. Tomorrow it begins Set 2 again, your child can repeat the sounds again for the Set 2 speed sound lesson to keep them fresh in their minds.

Please complete the RWI sessions as normal. See above for the usual lesson information format.

During RWI session the reading and writing should be independent, so let your child have a go at these activities on their own please, especially the spelling. You do not need to write it out for them to copy. This will get them ready for when they return as they will have to write independently for some lessons, in particular the RWI session.

The sound for today is ‘oy – toy for a boy’

Read these sentences to your child, let them write it independently as this is expected when doing writing for RWI. Don’t forget to write the sound buttons under the words like it has on the Speed sounds practise sheet.

  1. The boy is on his chair.
  2. Enjoy the toys.

Maths

Today we will look at number 11. You can watch Number Blocks 11, click the link below.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m000266y/numberblocks-series-3-eleven

I would like you to find different ways to make 11 using a ‘Part, part, whole’ model and write the addition calculation underneath. You could use your number cards again and order them to 11 or there are activities to choose from on the ‘All about 11’

Topic

As we are learning about Plants, for todays lesson I would like you to have a look at a Van Gogh painting called ‘Sunflowers’. Can you create your own Van Gogh ‘Sunflowers’ picture? You could draw, paint or collage your own picture. Please send me photos of your artwork when it is finished.
