Lunches & Snacks

St Thomas More Catholic First School promotes an active and healthy lifestyle.

We encourage children to bring a healthy lunch box, a healthy snack and a bottle of water each day.

Hot Meals - we are pleased to introduce the provision of hot meals with effect from Monday, 19th September 2011, provided by Alliance in Partnership.  Menus will be on display and order forms available from the School Office.  All orders and monies will need to be in the School Office by 9.00 am on the Thursday for the following week.  The current cost will be £2 per meal.

A healthy lunch box - children need a variety of foods to develop into a healthy adult. A lunch box can provide a balanced diet, some ideas are a range of sandwiches, pittas or pasta with ham, cheese, hummous or chicken, along with fruit, yoghurt or scone. You can get some more great ideas from EatWell.gov.uk or HealthyLunchBox.co.uk

A healthy snack - all children in Reception and Key Stage 1 are provided with a piece of fruit or vegetables for morning break, they make may bring an alternative healthy snack if they wish. Children in Key Stage 2 are asked to bring their own healthy snack. Please do not send in fizzy drinks, crisps, chocolate or sweets.

A bottle of water - recent research has suggested that keeping our bodies and brain hydrated improves concentration. Children are asked to bring a bottle of water with a sports cap for use throughout the day, this can be refilled as necessary.
